BLOG

Yesterday I was blogging about adding paint with paper as a medium, today I present to you a painting 75 by 115 centimeters where I have taken off paint with paper. The red paint was sprayed on thickly, and a lot of paint was taken off, making imprints of the red paint with paper over and over. In some areas more paint was taken away which results in a more transparent surface.

I have been using this technique for the painting of the blog from yesterday: adding paint by stamping it on the canvas via paper or a glass panel. These pieces of paper are also becoming a quite interesting result of this process.

Here is a new painting on canvas, 60 by 80 centimeters. I started with a dark underground, stamping the red and blue paint on the canvas with a glass panel, creating a motif. If you look good, you can see there are 8 frames with a repeated motif that gently transforms from left to right.

This is what it looks like right now, mostly bleu, some black and white, some ochre. These are the colors from yesterday and the past weekend. I haven't felt the need to clean up yet, it can stay like this for a while ... after all it's not that much mess (yet).

Here are two new (Experiments), made from the painting and the drawing I made last week. Both have the same subject, both are drawings of my studio and my easel. The last is probably more recognizable than the first but I like both of them. Go check out my Experiments, it is becoming a big collection.

I started with a small canvas (the one on the left and yes, a recycled one) that I wanted to be abstract and about color, lines and shapes, not really representing something or trying to be figurative. But when I turned the canvas around I started to see a balerina, repeated twice: the body and leg on top and the arm below. I don't know if you can see the same in it. I have noticed that when I challenge my boyfriend, he almost never sees what I see.
