Summer is here (as soon as the clouds go away) ... ! Can't wait for the heat waves to strike us ;). When I think about summer, I make connotations like everyone else, but probably different ...;) .
When I think about summer, I think about Burning Man, an art-event at the end of the summer in the Black Rock Desert. One day, I would love to participate.
Burning Man is a week-long annual art event and temporary community, held in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada, US. The event begins on the last Monday in August, and ends on the first Monday in September. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy, which is set alight on Saturday evening. The event is described as an experiment in community, art, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance.
What I like about Burning Man, and why is it on my Bucket List?
I like the idea of going to a place in the desert being focused on creating for a whole week, having the freedom to create without the limitations of a room or studio. You can go as big as you can, or as big as you have ever dreamed. Afterwards we don't clean up, just put everything on fire and that's taken care of. Ok, not completely true, but it makes my story better, they are quite ecological.
Images of swift impressions will be the only thing left. I like the crazy idea of creating something and right away destroying it. I think Burning Man is an example where the act of creating is the main goal, not the act of putting it into a market and making it commercial. There is nothing to sell left. There is no audience to think about, no trend to remind yourself of ... it must be so liberating!
