It's been almost three weeks since I last wrote anything in my journal. I have seen beautiful things during this gap. Here is the recapitulation:

On the 10th of September, there was a vernissage of a group exhibition I was a part of. The location of the opening was beautiful. I saw this old couple on the couch that matched the spectaculair interior of this mysterious house. It made me think about how I want to grow old.

On Friday, September 16th, I visited the 8th Biennale for Painting at three locations.
In Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens I saw two works by Anh Trân presented in a corner of a room, in a 90° angle. I liked the presentation. We like to hang art "in the middle of the middle", it's so boring! It made me think about how I want to present my work.
I also enjoyed the works of Dalton Paula, a series of painted books whose blue/turquoise backgrounds are reminiscent of retratos pintados (old photos that were artificially coloured). It made me think about all the things I can paint on.
In Mudel I saw work by Charles-René Callewaert who used blue as a sketch color. When I saw that beautiful blue color still dominant in the painting, I thought I should do that too ... or swap it with red.
I am glad that I was also able to visit the Raveel Museum. The artists presented in this Biennale were interesting, but I also found the work of Raveel on the top floor worthwhile. Raveel has stubbornly done his thing. It made me think about how stubborn I should be.

On Saturday, September 17th, we closed the doors of my solo exhibition in Sleidinge and I picked up all the artworks. It made me think about painting on smaller canvasses.
In the late afternoon I continued to the open studio of an artist. I didn't stay long, but long enough to see a lot of beautiful things. A studio is much more intimate than a gallery. It made me think about my own studio and how I want to further transform my space.
