... and there is a lot to see here. I made this picture of a very old building that was already minimal before I used it as the subject for my next painting. I can also see the sky from here. Clouds that were packed with rain are retreating. They are making room for a light blue sky and scattered white clouds.
I took this image last week when I was in Lessines to visit an old hospital, "Notre-Dame à la Rose" is one of the oldest hospitals in Europe. Founded in 1242, it is also one of the last examples of a self-supporting hospital with a farm, gardens, ice cellar and cemetery. I painted the front of the adjacent farm, making a memory of my trip to Lessines.
