"I saw this horse dedication and knew it would turn into an interesting image, Leeuwergem 2018"
80 by 80 cm - Acrylics on canvas

A very long time ago, I started 2 similar paintings from a scene I shot picturing a horse dedication. Quickly after I started these paintings, one of the two was finished. The other one remained unfinished for years, somewhere in a corner of my studio behind other unfinished paintings. It was waiting there for a moment of inspiration for way too long.

Two months ago, I sold the finished version of this horse dedication. I then was reminded of the waiting unfinished version, and while I was getting ready for the Open Studio Days, I sought and found. I finished and enjoyed. It became a collection of greens: blue-ish greens, yellow-ish greens and brown-ish greens draped like a sauce over the characters in this composition.

The title became "I saw this horse dedication and knew it would turn into an interesting image, Leeuwergem 2018". It is a new thing I do: I describe the feeling I had when I took the picture. In this way, my paintings about my memories are becoming even more like diary entries.
