The Open Studio Days are here! My doors open tonight at 6PM and will close again on Sunday at 6PM ... three days of making connections with a lot of people. I'm taking this "making connections" a step further. For the presentation of my artworks in my studio, I have chosen to make connections between artworks.
I have been thinking on how to add a narrative layer to my artworks for a couple of years now. I have been working on exterior versus interior, from above versus from the ground.

Yesterday after work, I went to the Art Brussels vernissage in the buildings of Tour & Taxis. I had only been there recently for the Affordable Art Fair. On my previous visit I was able to park very close to the venue, this time I had to park a little further away. With my focus on seeing beautiful things, I was immediately charmed by an industrial building. I took some pictures with my phone and planned to make a painting of this building.
In my mind, this new artwork has a connection with an older work that was titled "My Third Window" which is the interior of a co-working space here in Zottegem. This interior could have been inside the building I saw in Brussels.
I hope you can make it to the Open Studio Days ... I have been making a lot of those connections between artworks and hope I can connect with you too.
