I started this painting as a 150 centimeter wide by 100 centimeter high scene. I had a lot of fun working on this scene and it was something else, a horizontal format.

Most of my paintings of the last 5 years have a square format. It's not a fixed rule, I don't always use this format for my paintings but it is more or less an exception when I go rectangle. I recently decided that I should not be too rigid about it, just follow my heart.

Unfortunately, the format wasn't working for me. I'm not certain if it was the format or the composition or even the position and scale of what I painted that wasn't working. On the other hand, it wasn't a lot of work to reframe a smaller part of the canvas. At least I tried to break out of my box. ;)
